📚 Historical Context
During the time of King Hezekiah, the Assyrian empire under King Sennacherib was besieging Jerusalem, posing a severe threat to the city's survival and the people of Judah. The prophet Isaiah delivered this prophecy to reassure the king and the nation that a remnant would escape from Jerusalem and Mount Zion, emphasizing God's protective intervention. This promise highlighted that deliverance would come solely through the zeal of the Lord of hosts, not human efforts.
