Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
So they went straight to the king and said, 'That guy Daniel, you know, one of those Jewish captives, he's completely ignoring you and the law you signed. He's still praying three times a day like nothing happened.'
Sometimes standing up for what's right means people will try to tear you down for it.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Daniel, set during the Babylonian exile when the Jewish people were captives in Persia, Daniel had risen to a high position in King Darius's court due to his wisdom and integrity. His rivals, envious of his influence, tricked the king into signing a decree that banned prayer to any god except the king for 30 days, knowing Daniel's faithful prayer routine. When Daniel continued praying to God three times a day as he always had, his enemies used this to accuse him before the king.
