And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
I will send armies against you, each soldier armed with weapons. They will cut down your finest cedar trees and throw them into the fire.
God is warning that He will send enemy forces to destroy what is most valuable and beautiful in the land.
📚 Historical Context
This prophecy was given during the final years of the kingdom of Judah, likely around 609-598 BC, when Babylon was rising as the dominant power. The cedar trees mentioned were symbols of strength, beauty, and wealth - Lebanon's cedars were prized throughout the ancient world for construction of palaces and temples. God was warning through Jeremiah that even Jerusalem's most magnificent buildings and treasures would be destroyed by the coming Babylonian invasion.
