Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
This is what the LORD says: The wealth of Egypt, the goods of Ethiopia, and the tall Sabeans will come to you and belong to you. They will follow you as prisoners in chains, bow down before you, and beg you, saying, 'Surely God is with you, and there is no other God besides Him.'
God is promising that wealthy nations will one day recognize His people and acknowledge that the true God is with them.
📚 Historical Context
In the historical context of Isaiah 45:14, the prophet Isaiah was speaking to the people of Judah during a period of impending exile to Babylon, assuring them of God's ultimate plan for restoration. This verse foretells how powerful nations like Egypt, Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, known for their wealth and strength, would one day submit to Israel and recognize God's sovereignty, likely pointing to events after the exile when King Cyrus of Persia conquered Babylon and facilitated the Jews' return. It reflects the broader biblical theme of God's control over world empires to fulfill His promises to His people.
