And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.
The LORD will strike Egypt with judgment, but then He will also heal them. The people will turn back to the LORD, and when they pray to Him, He will listen and heal them.
God is showing that even His judgment comes with the promise of healing and restoration for those who turn back to Him.
📚 Historical Context
During the time of the prophet Isaiah in the 8th century BC, Egypt was a powerful nation that often interacted with Israel as an ally or rival, especially amid threats from empires like Assyria. In Isaiah 19, God prophesies judgment on Egypt for their idolatry and rebellion, but also promises eventual healing and restoration, showing His authority over all nations. This reflects the broader biblical theme of God's redemptive plan extending beyond Israel to include other peoples.
