And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
As I watched, tendons and muscles started forming on the bones, and skin stretched over everything. But they still weren't breathing, no life in them yet.
Sometimes God builds us back piece by piece, but the real breakthrough is when he breathes life into the process.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet during the Babylonian exile, around the 6th century BC, speaking to the Jewish people who were scattered and felt utterly defeated after the destruction of Jerusalem. In this vision of the valley of dry bones, God demonstrates His power to revive Israel, starting with the bones reassembling into bodies as a symbol of national restoration. However, the lack of breath in verse 8 highlights that physical reformation alone isn't complete without God's life-giving spirit.
