And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.
I'm going to stop them from their violent ways and disgusting practices, no more of that. But whoever's left standing will belong to our God. They'll become leaders in Judah, and even Ekron will be like the Jebusites who joined us.
God's turning enemies into family and giving them leadership roles.
📚 Historical Context
Zechariah was a prophet who spoke to the Jewish people after their return from Babylonian exile, around 520 BC, encouraging them during the rebuilding of the temple. In this verse, God declares judgment on the Philistine cities, such as Ekron, by removing their violent and idolatrous ways, symbolizing a cleansing of their sins. This reflects God's broader plan to transform enemies into allies within His covenant people.
