And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
And the LORD said to Aaron, 'You will not receive any land inheritance like the other tribes, and you won't have a portion of territory among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the people of Israel.'
God is telling Aaron that instead of receiving land like the other tribes, God Himself would be the source of provision and inheritance for the priests.
📚 Historical Context
This was spoken to Aaron, Moses' brother and the first high priest of Israel, as God was establishing the priestly system. While the other eleven tribes of Israel would receive specific territories in the Promised Land, the tribe of Levi (the priests) would be scattered throughout the land to serve in religious duties. Instead of owning land to farm or raise livestock for income, the priests would be supported by the tithes and offerings of the other tribes.
