For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
It was just like back before the flood hit, people were living their normal lives, eating dinner, going to parties, getting married, planning weddings, completely business as usual right up until Noah stepped into that ark.
Life was totally normal until it suddenly wasn't.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Genesis, the world was filled with widespread wickedness, leading God to decide on a great flood to cleanse the earth and start anew. People were going about their everyday activities like eating, drinking, and marrying, completely unaware of the impending judgment that would come through the flood. Jesus references this historical event in His teaching to draw a parallel to the suddenness of His second coming.
