Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Right after that time of intense suffering ends, the sun will go dark, the moon won't shine anymore, stars will fall out of the sky, and everything that holds the heavens together will be completely shaken up.
When the worst is over, even the sky itself won't be the same.
📚 Historical Context
In the first century AD, Jesus delivered this prophecy to His disciples on the Mount of Olives in response to their questions about the end of the age and the destruction of the Temple. This verse is part of a larger discourse using apocalyptic language, which was common in Jewish scriptures to describe divine interventions and cosmic signs. Such imagery of heavenly disturbances symbolized God's judgment and the ushering in of His kingdom, drawing from Old Testament traditions like those in Isaiah and Joel.
