But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
But on the exact same day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur literally rained down from the sky and wiped everyone out.
Sometimes God's judgment comes swiftly and completely, timing matters.
📚 Historical Context
In the biblical account from Genesis 19, Sodom and Gomorrah were ancient cities notorious for their extreme wickedness and immorality, which led God to pronounce judgment upon them. Lot, a righteous man and nephew of Abraham who lived in Sodom, was warned by angels to flee with his family to escape the destruction, and on the very day they left, fire and brimstone fell from heaven. Jesus references this event in Luke 17 to illustrate the suddenness of divine judgment in his teachings to his followers.
