And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which are gone up from you.
I will hand over King Zedekiah of Judah and his officials to their enemies, to those who want to kill them and to the Babylonian army that has temporarily pulled back from attacking you.
God is declaring that King Zedekiah and his leaders will be captured by their enemies, specifically the Babylonian army, despite any temporary relief they might be experiencing.
📚 Historical Context
During the reign of King Zedekiah, Judah was under siege by the Babylonian army led by King Nebuchadnezzar, as part of God's judgment for the nation's unfaithfulness and broken covenants. The Babylonians had temporarily withdrawn from Jerusalem due to an approaching Egyptian force, creating a false sense of security. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God was delivering a direct warning that Zedekiah and his officials would be handed over to their enemies.
