Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.
You must not go to parties or celebrations to sit and eat and drink with the people there.
God is telling Jeremiah to avoid joining in community celebrations and festivities during this time of coming judgment.
📚 Historical Context
This command was given to the prophet Jeremiah during the final years before Jerusalem's destruction by Babylon (around 600-586 BC). God was instructing Jeremiah to live as a sign to the people - his unusual lifestyle of not marrying, not attending funerals, and not joining celebrations would demonstrate the severity of the coming judgment. These restrictions were meant to show that normal social life was about to end.
