Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
So look, the time is coming, says the LORD, when people will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the people of Israel up out of Egypt,'
God is saying that a time is coming when people will remember Him for a new and even greater rescue than bringing Israel out of Egypt.
📚 Historical Context
During the time of the prophet Jeremiah in the 7th-6th century BC, the nation of Judah was facing imminent judgment from God due to widespread idolatry and disobedience, leading to the Babylonian exile. This verse is part of a prophecy that shifts from warnings of punishment to promises of future restoration, indicating that God's deliverance of Israel from Egypt would one day be overshadowed by even greater acts of salvation. It reflects the biblical theme of God's ongoing covenant with His people, pointing toward a new era of redemption.
