Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.
So I got up and went out to the valley, and there it was, God's glory standing right there, just as incredible as when I first saw it by the Chebar River. I immediately dropped to the ground, face down.
When God shows up, you know it, and the only response is to fall on your face in awe.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a priest and prophet among the Jewish exiles in Babylon during the 6th century BC, called by God to deliver messages of judgment and hope to his people. In this verse, he is responding to a divine command by going to the plain, where he encounters the glory of the Lord again, similar to his initial vision by the River Chebar, which had already marked the beginning of his prophetic ministry. This moment highlights the overwhelming presence of God in the midst of exile, emphasizing His sovereignty over human circumstances.
