And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.
And when you're there, you'll look back on everything you did, all the ways you messed up and got yourself dirty with bad choices. You'll honestly hate what you see when you think about all the wrong you've done.
Sometimes you have to face your mistakes head-on before you can actually move forward.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet speaking to the Jewish exiles in Babylon during the 6th century BC, a time when Israel was suffering the consequences of their repeated idolatry and rebellion against God. In Ezekiel 20, God recounts Israel's history of unfaithfulness from the Exodus onward, promising future restoration if they repent, as part of a larger message of judgment and hope. This verse specifically points to a future moment when the people, upon returning to their land, would reflect on their sins and feel deep shame.
