But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
In the Book of Joshua, the Israelites had just finished conquering the Promised Land under Joshua's leadership after the death of Moses. This verse comes from Joshua's farewell instructions to the eastern tribes, Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh, who were returning to their allocated lands across the Jordan River. Joshua emphasized the importance of remaining faithful to the laws given through Moses to maintain their covenant relationship with God and avoid turning away from Him.
