This is part of Judah's desperate plea to Joseph (whom he doesn't recognize) to release Benjamin and take him as a slave instead. Jacob had already lost his beloved son Joseph (or so he thought) and had been devastated. Benjamin was now his remaining beloved son from his wife Rachel, and Jacob had only reluctantly allowed him to go to Egypt because of the severe famine.
