In the history of Judah, King Ahaziah was killed, and his mother Athaliah seized power by attempting to eliminate the entire royal family to secure her throne. Joash, Ahaziah's young son, was hidden in the Temple of God by the priest Jehoiada to protect him from Athaliah's violent purge. For six years, Joash remained in hiding while Athaliah ruled as queen over the land.
