This verse concludes the story of King Ahab's victory over Ben-hadad of Syria, but Ahab had disobeyed God's command to kill Ben-hadad and instead made a treaty with him. A prophet had just confronted Ahab about his disobedience and pronounced God's judgment. Samaria was the capital city of the northern kingdom of Israel and Ahab's royal residence.
