For someone who is ceremonially unclean, they shall take some of the ashes from the burned red heifer that was sacrificed for purification from sin, and fresh flowing water shall be added to it in a container.
This verse describes how to prepare a special cleansing mixture using ashes from a sacrificed red heifer and fresh water to purify someone who had become ceremonially unclean.
📚 Historical Context
This verse is part of the ritual laws God gave to the Israelites for dealing with ceremonial uncleanness, particularly after contact with death. The red heifer sacrifice was a rare and special ceremony where a perfect red cow was burned completely, and its ashes were kept for making purification water. This ritual helped the Israelites maintain their spiritual purity so they could worship God and remain part of the community.
