And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
And he told him, 'Listen, don't tell anyone about this. Just go show yourself to the priest and bring the offering that Moses said to bring when you're healed. Let that be your proof to them.'
Sometimes the best testimony isn't what you say, it's letting your transformation speak for itself.
📚 Historical Context
In the time of Jesus, leprosy was a dreaded disease that caused severe social isolation under Jewish law, as those afflicted were considered ritually unclean and excluded from community life. The Law of Moses, specifically in Leviticus 14, outlined a detailed purification process for anyone healed of leprosy, requiring them to show themselves to a priest and offer specific sacrifices to confirm their cleansing and reintegration. Jesus' instruction to the healed man respected this biblical mandate, using it as a way to provide evidence of His miraculous work to the religious authorities.
