And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:
The people from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh crossed over the Jordan River armed and ready for battle, leading the way in front of all the other Israelites, just as Moses had told them to do.
This verse shows how these three tribes kept their promise to Moses by fighting alongside their fellow Israelites even though they had already received their land on the other side of the Jordan River.
📚 Historical Context
These two and a half tribes had requested to settle on the east side of the Jordan River because the land was good for their livestock. Moses agreed to this request on the condition that their fighting men would cross over and help the other tribes conquer the Promised Land before returning to their families and inheritance.
