And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
Then Joshua said to them, 'Don't be afraid or discouraged. Be strong and courageous, because this is how the LORD will deal with all your enemies when you fight against them.'
Joshua is encouraging his people not to fear their enemies because God will give them victory in all their battles just as He did this time.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Joshua, the Israelites were in the midst of their military campaigns to conquer the Promised Land, as God had commanded, facing fierce opposition from coalitions of Canaanite kings. In Joshua 10, this verse follows a miraculous event where God caused the sun to stand still, enabling the Israelites to achieve a decisive victory over the Amorites. Joshua then addressed his leaders, encouraging them with these words to remain fearless, knowing that God would continue to deliver them from their enemies.
