But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.
But I've completely exposed Esau, stripped away all his hiding spots and secret places. There's nowhere left for him to run. His descendants are destroyed, his family is gone, his neighbors too. He's been wiped out completely.
When God decides to expose someone, there's literally nowhere to hide.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Jeremiah, the prophet is delivering God's messages of judgment against various nations that had opposed Israel, including Edom, which was descended from Esau. Esau, as Jacob's twin brother, represents the Edomites who had a history of conflict and betrayal toward the Israelites, often taking advantage of Israel's vulnerabilities. This verse specifically warns of God's exposure and destruction of Edom's defenses and people as part of His sovereign plan to punish unfaithfulness and pride.
