During the fourth year of Jehoiakim's reign as king of Judah, around 605 BC, Jeremiah the prophet was dictating his messages of warning and judgment to his faithful scribe Baruch, amid growing threats from the Babylonian empire. This era was marked by Judah's spiritual decline through idolatry and political instability, as the nation faced potential invasion for turning away from God.
