And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
I will throw you out along with your mother who gave birth to you, sending you to a foreign country where you were not born, and there you will die.
God is declaring that He will send the king and his mother into exile in a foreign land where they will die, far from their homeland.
📚 Historical Context
This verse is from the prophet Jeremiah's message to King Jehoiachin of Judah, delivered during a time of political turmoil and spiritual decline in the late 7th century BC. Judah was under threat from the Babylonian Empire due to the nation's repeated idolatry and disobedience to God's covenant, and this prophecy specifically warned of exile as a consequence of the king's failures. Jeremiah's words were fulfilled when Jehoiachin and his mother were indeed taken captive to Babylon, marking a pivotal moment in the Babylonian exile.
