And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
I will hand you over to those who want to kill you, to those you are afraid of—to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to the Babylonians.
God is warning that He will allow enemies to capture and defeat those who have disobeyed Him.
📚 Historical Context
This prophecy was spoken to King Jehoiachin (also called Coniah) of Judah around 597 BC, just before the Babylonian exile. Nebuchadnezzar had already begun his conquest of Jerusalem, and God was warning through Jeremiah that continued rebellion against Him would result in complete defeat. The Chaldeans were another name for the Babylonians, the dominant empire that would destroy Jerusalem and take the people into captivity.
