✦ MADE SIMPLE

Therefore, this is what the LORD says: If you come back to me, then I will restore you, and you will serve in my presence again. And if you separate what is valuable from what is worthless, you will be like my spokesperson. Let them come to you, but don't you go chasing after them.

⚡ THE BOTTOM LINE

God is promising Jeremiah that if he returns to faithful service, God will restore him and make him His spokesman again, but he must distinguish between what's valuable and worthless.

📚 Historical Context

In the book of Jeremiah, the prophet is addressing the people of Judah during a period of impending judgment from God due to their persistent idolatry and rebellion against His commands. Jeremiah himself was facing personal persecution and had been pouring out his complaints to God, prompting this direct response from the Lord. This verse reflects God's call for Jeremiah to recommit and separate the valuable aspects of his prophetic role from the worthless influences around him.
