For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.
Even your own brothers and your father's family have betrayed you. They have stirred up a crowd against you. Don't trust them, even when they speak kindly to you.
God is warning Jeremiah that even his own family members have turned against him and cannot be trusted, despite their smooth words.
📚 Historical Context
This verse comes during Jeremiah's ministry when he was facing intense persecution for delivering God's unpopular messages about Jerusalem's coming destruction. Even his own family in Anathoth had rejected him and possibly plotted against his life. This betrayal by those closest to him was part of the suffering Jeremiah endured as God's prophet during the final years before Babylon's conquest of Judah.
