Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;
Therefore the LORD will stir up Rezin's enemies to fight against him, and will bring all his opponents together as one force.
God is saying He will use Rezin's own enemies to defeat him as part of His judgment.
📚 Historical Context
In the 8th century BC, the prophet Isaiah was delivering God's message to the northern kingdom of Israel during a period of political alliances and conflicts, particularly the Syro-Ephraimite War where King Rezin of Syria allied with Israel's King Pekah against Judah. God was using this turmoil to judge Israel for their idolatry and unfaithfulness, promising to raise up adversaries against Rezin as part of His divine plan to discipline His people. This verse reflects God's sovereignty in orchestrating international events to fulfill His purposes.
