For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
Just as the earth produces new growth, and as a garden makes the seeds planted in it sprout and grow, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to grow and flourish in front of all the nations.
God is promising that righteousness and praise will naturally grow and spread throughout all nations, just like plants inevitably spring up from good soil.
📚 Historical Context
This verse comes from Isaiah's prophecy about the coming Messiah and the restoration of Israel. Isaiah was writing during a time when Israel faced exile and destruction, but he prophesied about a future time of redemption and blessing. The imagery of growth and flourishing would have been especially meaningful to an agricultural society that understood how reliable and inevitable plant growth is in good conditions.
