This verse shows Jacob completing his wedding obligations to Leah and then receiving Rachel as his second wife, as previously arranged.
📚 Historical Context
In the biblical narrative, Jacob had agreed to work seven years for his uncle Laban to marry Rachel, whom he loved deeply. However, Laban deceived him by giving him Leah as his bride instead during the wedding ceremony. After Jacob completed the traditional seven-day wedding feast for Leah, Laban fulfilled his promise by allowing Jacob to marry Rachel as well, but only in exchange for another seven years of labor.
