Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
Tell the Israelites to turn around and set up camp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, across from Baal-zephon. Have them camp there by the sea.
God is giving Moses specific instructions about where the Israelites should camp by the sea, which will set up the dramatic rescue at the Red Sea.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Exodus, the Israelites are fleeing from slavery in Egypt under Moses' leadership after God had inflicted the ten plagues on the Egyptians. God instructs Moses to guide the people to a specific location by the Red Sea, between landmarks like Pihahiroth, Migdol, and Baalzephon, which would position them in a vulnerable spot to demonstrate His power and deliver them from Pharaoh's pursuing army. This sets the stage for the miraculous parting of the Red Sea, showcasing God's sovereignty in the exodus narrative.
