And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.
During those seven days, no bread with yeast should be found anywhere in your territory. And none of the meat from the animal you sacrifice on the first evening should be left over until morning.
God is giving specific instructions about how to properly observe the Passover feast - no yeast anywhere for seven days, and the sacrificial meat must be completely consumed before dawn.
📚 Historical Context
This verse is part of the instructions for the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which was given to the Israelites as a commemoration of their hurried escape from slavery in Egypt during the Exodus. God commanded them to remove all leavened bread from their homes for seven days to symbolize purity, haste, and dependence on Him for provision. Additionally, the prohibition against letting the sacrificial meat remain overnight emphasized the importance of treating sacred offerings with reverence and completing the observance properly in their wilderness wanderings.
