✦ MADE SIMPLE

The harbor they were in wasn't a good place to spend the winter, so most of the crew wanted to keep sailing. They were hoping to make it to Phoenix, another port in Crete that faced southwest and northwest, basically a much better spot to wait out the cold months.

⚡ THE BOTTOM LINE

Sometimes you have to take a risk to get to a better place.

📚 Historical Context

In the book of Acts, Paul is being transported to Rome as a prisoner by ship, facing the challenges of sea travel in the ancient Mediterranean world. The sailors and passengers are deciding where to spend the winter because the current harbor in Crete is not safe or suitable for enduring the stormy season. They prefer Phenice, another harbor on Crete that offers better protection from the prevailing winter winds.
