📚 Historical Context
In the early Christian church, a major controversy emerged over whether Gentile converts needed to follow Jewish customs, such as circumcision, to be fully accepted as believers. Paul and Barnabas, who had been successfully preaching the gospel to non-Jews, faced strong opposition from some Jewish Christians who insisted on these requirements. This led to the decision to send a delegation, including Paul and Barnabas, to Jerusalem to seek guidance from the apostles and elders.
