Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
Word got back to the church in Jerusalem about everything that was happening, so they sent Barnabas to check things out in Antioch.
Sometimes the best thing leadership can do is send the right person to see what's really going on.
📚 Historical Context
In the early days of the Christian church, the believers in Jerusalem served as the central hub, coordinating the spread of the gospel amid growing persecution and missionary efforts. When reports reached them about a thriving community of new believers in Antioch, including Gentiles who were turning to Christ, the church leaders decided to send Barnabas, a reliable and Spirit-filled disciple, to verify and support this development. This action reflects the early church's commitment to unity and oversight as the faith expanded beyond its Jewish roots.
