Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
But when the disciples gathered around him, Paul got back up and walked right back into the city. The next day, he and Barnabas headed out to Derbe.
Sometimes the best response to getting knocked down is getting back up and walking right back in.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Acts, Paul and Barnabas were on their first missionary journey, spreading the Gospel through various cities in the Roman Empire during the first century AD. In Lystra, they encountered fierce opposition from Jewish leaders who stirred up a crowd to stone Paul, leaving him for dead outside the city. Miraculously, Paul regained strength and returned to the city before continuing his travels, illustrating the dangers early Christians faced in proclaiming Christ.
