The writer is showing how God used Elisha to miraculously heal poisoned water that had been causing death and making the land barren.
📚 Historical Context
In the biblical narrative, Elisha had just succeeded the prophet Elijah and was traveling through Jericho, where the local water source was contaminated and causing harm to the people and land. The people complained to Elisha about the bad water that led to death and barrenness, reflecting the struggles of ancient communities dependent on natural resources for survival. Elisha's miraculous act of throwing salt into the spring and declaring it healed demonstrated God's power to intervene in everyday problems through His prophets.
