Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.
Therefore, look, I will bring disaster upon Jeroboam's family, and I will completely destroy every male in his household, both those who are free and those who are servants in Israel. I will sweep away what remains of Jeroboam's family like someone sweeps away manure, until it's all gone.
God is declaring that He will completely destroy King Jeroboam's family line as judgment for their sins and idolatry.
📚 Historical Context
In the divided kingdom of Israel, King Jeroboam ruled the northern tribes after rebelling against the house of David, and he led his people into idolatry by setting up golden calves as objects of worship. This provoked God's anger, as foretold by the prophet Ahijah, who delivered a message of judgment to Jeroboam's wife about the consequences of their unfaithfulness. As a result, God declared that Jeroboam's entire family line would be wiped out as punishment for his sins.
