Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
But not everyone gets this yet. Some people still feel weird about eating food that was offered to idols because their past is still messing with their head. When they eat it, their conscience feels guilty and that hurts them spiritually.
Not everyone's at the same place in their faith journey, and that's okay, we all have different baggage to work through.
📚 Historical Context
In the ancient city of Corinth, many people worshiped idols and offered food to them as part of their religious practices, which was a common cultural norm in the Greco-Roman world. This created a dilemma for early Christians, as meat from idol sacrifices was often sold in markets, and some believers with weaker faith backgrounds felt it was still tied to pagan worship. Paul addressed this in his letter to help the church navigate these issues without causing spiritual harm to others.
