📚 Historical Context
This instruction was given during Israel's time in the wilderness, when they carried a portable worship tent called the tabernacle as they traveled toward the Promised Land. The Levite tribe was divided into three clans (Gershon, Kohath, and Merari), each with specific duties for maintaining and transporting different parts of this sacred structure. The Merarites got the heaviest job - caring for the wooden framework that formed the tabernacle's foundation and walls.
