This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
This is what belongs to you from the most sacred offerings that are not burned up in the fire: every grain offering, every sin offering, and every guilt offering that the people bring to me will be completely sacred and will belong to you and your sons.
God is telling Aaron that he and his sons will receive portions of the most sacred offerings that the people bring, providing for their needs as priests.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Numbers, God is establishing the roles and provisions for the Levitical priests, specifically Aaron and his sons, as the Israelites continued their journey through the wilderness after the Exodus. This verse details the sacred portions of offerings, such as grain offerings and sin offerings, that were set aside for the priests from the sacrifices brought by the people, ensuring they received what was holy and reserved. This arrangement highlighted God's care for those fully dedicated to temple service, as the priests had no land inheritance like other tribes.
