And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.
Bring your fellow Levites from your father's tribe to work alongside you, so they can assist and serve with you. But you and your sons will be the ones who serve directly in front of the sacred tent where God's presence dwells.
God is telling Aaron to bring the other Levites to help with the holy work, but Aaron and his sons have the special responsibility of serving directly before God's sacred tent.
📚 Historical Context
This instruction comes after Korah's rebellion, where some Levites challenged Aaron's priestly authority and were destroyed by God. God is now clearly defining the roles within the tribe of Levi - the regular Levites would assist, but only Aaron's family line would serve as priests with direct access to the most sacred areas of the tabernacle.
