If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
If these men die a natural death like everyone else does, or if what happens to them is just the normal things that happen to all people, then the LORD has not sent me.
Moses is saying that if his opponents die naturally like everyone else, then it would prove God didn't really send him as their leader.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Numbers, the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt, and Moses served as God's appointed leader guiding them. A rebellion led by Korah, Dathan, and Abiram challenged Moses' authority, claiming that all Israelites were equally holy and should not be under his sole leadership. Moses proposed this test to demonstrate that if the rebels died in a normal way, his mission was not from God, but if something extraordinary occurred, it would confirm divine backing.
