Ye shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for an heave offering: as ye do the heave offering of the threshingfloor, so shall ye heave it.
You must offer a loaf made from the first of your dough as a special gift to God. Just like you give a portion from your grain harvest, you should give this bread offering in the same way.
God is asking His people to give Him the first bread they make from their grain as a way of honoring Him with their food.
📚 Historical Context
This command was given to the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land after wandering in the wilderness. God was establishing religious practices for when they would settle down and begin farming and baking bread regularly. The 'heave offering' was a portion lifted up and given to God, acknowledging that all their food ultimately came from Him.
