But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, yeah, you might be small compared to all the other towns in Judah, but someone's coming out of your little town who's going to rule over Israel. And this isn't some new guy, he's been around since the very beginning, from forever.
Sometimes the biggest things come from the smallest places.
📚 Historical Context
Micah was a prophet in the Southern Kingdom of Judah around the 8th century BC, during a time when the nation faced threats from the Assyrian empire and internal moral decline. In this verse, he prophesies that a future ruler, the Messiah, would emerge from Bethlehem, a small and overlooked town, emphasizing God's pattern of using the humble to achieve His divine purposes. This prophecy was later fulfilled in the birth of Jesus, as recorded in the New Testament.
