And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
You must not eat any bread, roasted grain, or fresh grain until the very day you bring an offering to your God. This is a permanent law for all your generations wherever you live.
God is establishing that His people must bring their offering to Him first before they can enjoy the harvest from their land.
📚 Historical Context
This command was given during the Feast of Firstfruits, when the Israelites would bring the first sheaf of their barley harvest to the priest. It emphasized that God had the first claim on their crops and their gratitude. This practice helped the people remember that their provision came from God and that He should be honored before they enjoyed His blessings.
