And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you.
And the LORD your God will force them out ahead of you and drive them away from you, and you will take possession of their land, just as the LORD your God promised you.
God is assuring the Israelites that He will fulfill His promise to remove their enemies and give them the land He promised.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Joshua, this verse is part of Joshua's farewell address to the Israelites after their conquest of much of the Promised Land. He is reminding them of God's promise to drive out the remaining nations, allowing the Israelites to fully possess the territory as part of the covenant made with their ancestors. This reflects the biblical narrative of God's faithfulness during the settlement period in Canaan.
